Welcome to the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop's Summer Arts Adventure! We look forward to working with you and your children to have a fabulous summer experience. Please read the following information completely. We are happy to answer any questions at (202) 547-6839.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Each camp day is divided into two sections. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., campers
will be split into groups according to age and rotate through art, ceramics, recreation, and music & movement classes.
At 1:00 p.m., half-day campers are dismissed and full-day campers will eat lunch.
From 1:30 to 5:00 p.m., full-day campers ages five and up can participate in recreational activities,
including trips to the swimming pool, parks, and local museums and attractions. Full-day campers ages seven and above can choose to participate in a specialty camp.
SNACKS: All campers should bring an adequate mid-morning snack. Full-day campers, in addition to a mid-morning snack, should bring a lunch and an afternoon snack. Refrigerators are provided, but there are no facilities for campers to heat food. Food and drinks should be ready for consumption (no microwave popcorn please).
Parents MUST come inside to the Arts Workshop to sign campers in and out each day.
RECREATION CAMP
Recreation Camp hours run from 1:30-5:00 p.m. Campers typically leave CHAW around 1:30 pm and return by 4:45 pm. Please note: Parents who need to pick up their children early from Recreation Camp should do so before 1:30 pm.
Full-day students enrolled in the recreation camp go to the Francis Pool located at 2500 N Street NW, and to the Randall Pool located at South Capitol and I Streets, SW. (Locations are subject to change.) CHAW is unable to accommodate students who do not wish to go to the pool.
Full-day campers must bring a dry swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen in a waterproof bag everyday (please make sure your camper has these on the first day of camp). Also, please be sure that campers wear comfortable clothes that may get slightly dirty. Please dress campers in tennis shoes or similar shoes everyday.
The full-day recreation program ends at 5:00 p.m.; campers not enrolled in after care must be picked up by 5:15 p.m. to avoid late fees.
SPECIALTY ARTS CAMPS
Students ages seven and above (those who have
turned seven by June 1, 2008) can choose to participate in a specialty arts camp. Specialty camps begin at 1:30 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m.; campers not enrolled in after care must be picked up by 5:45 p.m. to avoid late fees.
Specific information on each camp will be provided upon enrollment. Please note: The Musical Theater Camp will require additional performances within the week outside of camp times. In addition, parent volunteers would be very helpful for performance days and some rehearsals. Camp Directors will be in contact with you closer to the opening of the camp.

Drop-off for camp begins at 8:45 a.m. Campers enrolled in Before Care can be dropped off starting at 8:00 a.m.

Please note, without exception, campers must be five years old by June 1, 2008 to participate in summer camp.
Payment is due at the time of registration. Please speak to the office if you need to make arrangements for a payment plan.
Limited financial aid is available based on household and responsible party income. The deadline for submission of financial aid forms and information is March 30, 2008. At that time, all applicants with completed forms will be reviewed and notified in a timely manner. Download the financial aid form here.
CONTACT & BEHAVIOR REQUIREMENTS
The Arts Workshop must have contact information for parents and other responsible parties including home, work, and cell phone numbers. It is vital that we be able to reach you while caring for your camper.
It is also vital that campers are aware of all behavior policies. Campers may be dismissed from camp for behavior problems at the discretion of the Director. No refunds will be issued for campers presenting consistent or extreme behavior challenges
REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations received in writing prior to June 1, 2008 will receive a full refund. Cancellations after June 1, 2008 will result in a $200 cancellation fee per enrolled camp. No refunds will be issued for cancellations occurring less than a week before the camp begins.
