Summer Solstice Gathering

Join Sarah Tasman and Erica Lea for a Summer Solstice Gathering and special workshop celebrating creativity, inspiration and light on June 21, 2017 6:30-9pm. This session will be a warm and welcoming space for participants from all backgrounds to share and celebrate together.

This workshop will include:

  • A delicious vegetarian summer meal prepared by Chef Julia Kann of Julia's Rooted Kitchen

  • Meaningful conversation and discussion about what inspires us and what nurtures our creativity

Alla Prima Oil Painting the Portrait

Working from the model, students will explore the art of painting the portrait from life.  This class is primarily about painting the head in a convincing,representational manner. Initially, emphasis will be placed on shape and tonal relationships. The class will focus on creating a portrait from the early stages of setup to the finishing strokes. Students will be working from live models while they are guided through various ways of handling oil paint in order to create a finished piece. Students can expect instructor demonstration and plenty of individual attention.

The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) is proud to present its Annual Performance Festival on Saturday, December 10.  As always, this busy day will include performances from all levels of class-takers, from kids to adults, and will also feature work for sale from our advanced ceramics students (perfect for holiday gifts!).  By popular demand, Gingerbread House-Making will also be back (2pm-5pm at St.

Some oil painting and or drawing experience preferred. To be held outdoors at various locations on Capitol Hill. Three hour session with an additional 1-2 hours of painting along with the instructor afterwards.

Friday ARTnights: Knit & Sip

1st and 3rd Fridays, join us for Knit and Sip. After the hustle and bustle of a long week relax, reconnect with your friends and like-minded knitters, in a safe neighborly environment. Enjoy light refreshments, coffee, tea and wine. Bring your own project or purchase a kit from the instructor to learn the basics.
