Capitol Hill Youth Chorus: A Multicultural Musical Experience Rehearsal and Performance Schedule About the Capitol Hill Youth ChorusThrough professional instruction in vocal musical performance, the Capitol Hill Youth Chorus builds connections among public, private, parochial, and home-schooled students – taking advantage of the special multicultural nature of the Capitol Hill community while providing a unique educational experience. The Chorus, made up of singers starting at age 6, performs an extensive and ambitious repertoire. As part of the Youth Arts Program, the Capitol Hill Youth Chorus, founded in 2001, presents two formal concerts each year. In 2006-2007, the Chorus also performed at the Washington Monument at the invitation of the White House Commission on Remembrance, at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance hosted by the GLBT Arts Consortium, for the Capitol Hill Association of Merchants, and at St. Augustine’s Church’s Annual Fall Fair. Under the musical direction of Dr. Thea Kano, the Chorus, which now comprises 40 children from six area schools, rehearses weekly at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.
