Improv Night at CHAW

Come join us for a fundraising event to benefit the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) on Saturday, December 14 at 7:30pm. What better way to handle the stress and busyness of the holidays than through laughter, absurdity, joy, and silliness? Everything is unscripted and completely made up on-the-spot. Best of all, the entirety of the proceeds from ticket sales go directly to support tuition assistance for students at CHAW. Together we can reach more kids through the arts. It's a win-win!

Migrant Quilt Project

The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop presents the Migrant Quilt Project October 28 through December 7, 2019 in two locations: CHAW’s Gallery at 545 7th St, SE and at Lutheran Church of the Reformation, 212 East Capitol St NE. There will be a reception on Saturday, November 9th from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at CHAW featuring Jody Ispen, the founder and director of the project. The Migrant Quilt Project is a grassroots, collaborative effort of artists, quilt makers, and activists expressing compassion for migrants from Mexico and Central America who died in the Southern Arizona deserts. Free and open to all.

50 States Project Sendoff Party

In times of national uncertainty and distress, artists seek out the freedom of the open road, taking visual stock of the state of the nation. It is a distinctly American reaction, undertaken by artists and writers again and again over the past century. With the deep ideological chasms in our nation suddenly laid bare in the current turbulent atmosphere of America, photography Tom Woodruff and visual artist Kate Fleming are traveling to all 50 states to meet people and make art that chronicles what unites and divides us.

The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop celebrates the holiday season with its annual Spooktacular celebration on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at 545 7th Street, SE.
