CHAW Fall Registration Party!

Celebrate summer and kick off fall registration with art, perforamnces, food, fun, and friends. Programs and events will be running throughout the morning, so stop by any tiem between 10am and 1pm for all the goods- and to hear our great summer strings students show off their hard work! 

All activities are FREE and open to the public; all ages welcome. All events take place in CHAW's building and courtyard, weather permitting.

Pop-Up Shop, Zora & Amelia, will be in the courtyard selling gifts that empower women & girls to be their totally #CHAWsome selves!

Importance of Touch and 5th Anniversary Launch Party

Importance of Touch is a sites specific work by Sandra Atkinson (in collaboration with dancers). This short work explores the notion of human connection through touch in all mediums in an age of technology. Investigating whether we as a society are more comfortable with touch technology rather than the human touch. We play with reaction, intention and connection through movement and music.

Art's and Craft Beer

Stop by from 3-5pm and support the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) with a brew (or two!).

Wristbands will be available at the door for $20 and include a free pint, glass, and private tour at 5pm! All proceeds go to CHAW’s Paint Bucket Campaign, raising $70,000 in 70 days for tuition assistance to ensure everyone can have art in their life. The 45-year-old CHAW is near and dear to my heart as I've gotten to see firsthand just how much impact they have on the Capitol Hill community for the last year as a Board member. Lots more info at!

Snacks and/or drinks, Information on the upcoming classes, and workshops Teachers will give a brief on their classes and/or work.

Detox to Retox for CHAW!

Starting with a charity ride at CycleBar NoMa, located at 1105 Delaware Ave. NE, detox from the weekend with a full indoor cycling experience at 1:30pm, with all proceeds going to CHAW. Towel off, then walk a few blocks over with us to Wunder Garten DC, 1101 1st St. NE, in the heart of NoMa, to grab some beers--$1 of a selected brew will head straight to CHAW. Cycle hard and drink up!

Summer Solstice Gathering

Join Sarah Tasman and Erica Lea for a Summer Solstice Gathering and special workshop celebrating creativity, inspiration and light on June 21, 2017 6:30-9pm. This session will be a warm and welcoming space for participants from all backgrounds to share and celebrate together.

This workshop will include:

  • A delicious vegetarian summer meal prepared by Chef Julia Kann of Julia's Rooted Kitchen

  • Meaningful conversation and discussion about what inspires us and what nurtures our creativity
