Summer Camp 2026

Join us for a daily dose of art, sunshine, and new friends! CHAW’s small, hands-on summer camps encourage creativity, learning, and connection through studio activities, performances, and collaborative projects. Field trips include visits to local museums, libraries, and splash parks.

Teen internships and volunteer opportunities are available. Email brian@chaw.org for specific opportunities.

CHAW’s 2026 updated safety measures:

-face masks are optional

-each camp day will include indoor and outdoor time (weather permitting)

-sign in and out of each camper for contact tracing

-small weekly groups limited to 14 students maximum

-facilities will be cleaned regularly throughout each day

-hand washing and sanitizing will be encouraged

Jr. Arts Camp

Monday-Friday

9:00am-12:00pm

Tuition: $275.00 per week

Camp for students who are at least 4 years old and have NOT YET completed Kindergarten by June 23, 2026. *No exceptions will be made. 

Arts are the perfect creative backdrop for imaginative play spaces, social development and curiosity driven activities. Each week culminates in demonstrations for family and friends on Friday at noon. All materials are provided, campers only need to bring a nut-free snack and drink for daily snack time.

Camp weeks are June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17, July 20-24, July 27-31, and August 3-7. Please note that there is no camp the week of June 29-July 2.

 Arts Adventure Camp

$600.00 per week

Camp is for students who have already completed Kindergarten by June 22, 2026 and enrolled through 5th grade. *No exceptions will be made.

Spark your creative curiosity with studio arts activities each morning like 2D and 3D visual arts, drama, and movement. Then grab your sunscreen and sneakers for afternoons full of swimming, parks, games and local destinations. Each camp week wraps up with a Friday arts showcase for families. All art materials are provided, campers only need to bring a nut-free lunch and drink, and a snack and drink.

We offer Before Care from 8:30-9:00am, and After Care from 5:00-5:30pm. The cost for EACH is $35.00 per week.

Camp weeks are June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17, July 20-24, July 27-31, August 3-7 , and August 10-14. Please note that the week of June 29-July 2 is a separate Field Trip Week.

Field Trip Week

$120.00 per day or $450.00 for the entire 4-day week

Camp is for students who have already completed Kindergarten by June 23, 2025 and enrolled through 5th grade. *No exceptions will be made.

Join us for a fun week of field trips to arts and recreation sites in and around DC! CHAW Teaching Artists will lead students in fun and artistically educational field trips, with cool-down time at the end of each day.You can select single days to fit your schedule or the entire week at a discounted rate.

Please note that there is no Before Care or After Care during Field Trip Week.

*Food is not provided, please pack a nut-free lunch and one or two nut-free snacks.

Camp runs Monday June 29, Tuesday June 30, Wednesday July 1, and Thursday, July 2, 2026

Ceramics Intensive

an afternoon camp for middle-schoolers

Ceramics Institute is for students who are rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

In Ceramics Institute, artists will explore handbuilding and wheel techniques in a focused, studio setting. Students will be given project-based instruction and free time to work independently on their own projects.

Summer Violin Enrichment

(NOTE: Both weeks will include the same number of violin enrichment hours)

The Violin Enrichment Option is designed as an enrichment program for students who are simultaneously enrolled in Arts Adventure camp. Violin Enrichment students will participate in daily ensemble classes and individual instruction in masterclass format.

Daily schedule: 8:30am-9:15am Ensemble (Group) class; Afternoon (time varies) Individual Instruction – Masterclasses. Requirements: For rising 1st – 6th graders.

Students must have at least 6 months of prior violin instruction and bring their own instrument. Violin Enrichment Add-on option: Students must register for BOTH Violin Enrichment and Arts Adventure Camp in the same week.

Violin Enrichment ONLY option: Parents must arrange for their child to be dropped off and picked before and after each morning AND afternoon violin session– children may NOT remain at CHAW between violin sessions unless they are simultaneously enrolled in Arts Adventure camp.
